The Lithuanian laser community places strong emphasis on the role of physics teachers in educating future high-technology professionals. Teachers’ ability to spark students’ interest in science, foster critical thinking, and open pathways to STEAM careers is a key prerequisite for the sustainable growth of the laser sector.

On 3 December 2025, during the “Innovative Teachers Awards” organised by the Knowledge Economy Forum, a special acknowledgement and prize in the laser community-initiated nomination “Physics Teacher of the Year” was presented to Paulina Jacyne, a teacher at Kaunas Martynas Mažvydas Progymnasium. The recognition was granted for accessible and innovative teaching methods that help engage students in physics and encourage them to pursue STEAM fields. The commemorative coin was presented by Dainius Tumosa, Board Member of the Lithuanian Laser Association. The additional award is a joint initiative of laser sector companies Eksma Optics, Light Conversion, Ekspla, and the Lithuanian Laser Association.

The “Innovative Teachers Awards” is an annual initiative aimed at recognising outstanding educators who apply innovative teaching practices and contribute to strengthening modern education in Lithuania.

Companies in the Lithuanian laser sector consistently invest in the education ecosystem by supporting teachers, collaborating with schools, and implementing initiatives that encourage students’ interest in physics and STEAM disciplines. Such partnerships help nurture future talent and reinforce Lithuania’s competitiveness as a high-technology nation.
